SETTIMA ARTE FESTIVAL: SCHOOL-TO-WORK TRAINING PROJECT CONTINUES

Seventh Art Festival - Winter Edition has now reached its eighth edition.

An event that once again confirmed the educational and training value of the Settima Arte project, involving around two hundred participants including students, teachers and educators.

The students had the opportunity to show the results of the work done during the FSL - Training School Work Weeks, period in which the young people conceived and realised the short films. An immersive and concrete experience that allowed them to confront a real context, made up of deadlines, teamwork and shared objectives.

The theme chosen for this edition, Artificial Intelligence in the world of work, was interpreted by the young people with an original and reflective look: in all the short films, AI is seen as a useful and supportive tool, but it is the human factor to prevail. This confirms that, for young people, IA can be a valuable help, but cannot and perhaps should not replace the human component, made up of emotions, relationships and creativity.

During the project, the students played different roles: actors, videomakers, scriptwriters, directors and editors, applying transversal skills, the so-called soft skills, in a practical and challenging context.

The challenge was to realise a product capable of being projected on a big screen, working as a team and respecting precise technical parameters and well-defined delivery schedules.

Five classes and schools involved, from five different provinces - Bergamo, Como, Lecco, Brescia and Monza Brianza - testifying to a festival that has now transcended Bergamo's territorial borders. Each institute presented its short film on the big screen, competing for prizes awarded by a quality jury composed of Marco Pacchiana, a young and talented director, and Beppe Manzi of Oki Doki Film, an independent film production company.

Alongside the jury's judgement, the home audience was also able to express its preference via online voting.

During the morning, the prizes awarded during the event:

  • Best playbill: “How can I help you?” - I.S.S. Setificio Paolo Carcano of Como
  • Best actress: Silvia Pedretti for the short film “Free to make mistakes” - Calini Institute of Brescia
  • Best actor (ex aequo): Ludovico Rubini e Pietro Bona for the short film “Free to make mistakes” - Calini Institute of Brescia
  • Jury Prize: “Embrace me” - Floriani Institute of Vimercate
  • Audience Award: “AI Need You” - ISIS Zenale and Butinone in Bergamo, with 41.1% of the preferences

During the morning, a preview of the short film “I am always here for you”, also dedicated to the theme of Artificial Intelligence and shot last summer. The short film saw the participation of ten students from the previous edition of Settima Arte Festival and will be submitted to several film festivals in the coming months.

The eighth edition of the Settima Arte Festival thus confirms the desire to valorise the ideas, skills and on-the-job training of students, capable of surprising in terms of narrative and production quality, and to look to the future with awareness, creativity and critical spirit.
